Pool Garden with Privacy Planting

The pool sits within a garden rather than standing alone. A deep planting border forms the background, while a low band of flowering shrubs follows the fence and pool edge.

A closer look

The design is read through its paths, planting layers, and places to spend time outdoors.

What the space needed

The view across the pool is given a strong green background and a softer foreground. The planting creates separation from the trees beyond while keeping the water and seating area open.

How the planting works

Tall, dense evergreens make up the rear layer. Rounded hydrangea forms and low green planting repeat along the front, adding a lighter scale against the darker backdrop.

Materials and layout

A paved pool surround runs beside the water and connects to a pair of lounge chairs. The fence and pool enclosure are visible but visually softened by the planting in front of them.

Using the garden

The arrangement supports swimming, sitting, and looking across the water. The open paving around the pool leaves room to move between the house, the water, and the lounge chairs.

Hydrangea blooms and evergreen foliage will read differently through the year, with the garden continuing to change as the plants establish.
