Outdoor Dining Terrace

This terrace extends the dining area directly from the home. The long timber table sits close to the doors, with brick, black framing, and potted planting giving the small space a finished character.

A closer look

The design is read through its paths, planting layers, and places to spend time outdoors.

What the space needed

The terrace uses its narrow footprint efficiently by keeping the table aligned with the house. The open side gives chairs room while the wall and planting provide a sense of definition.

How the planting works

Potted plants bring green foliage up beside the table and door. Their contained form adds softness without taking planting area away from the terrace surface.

Materials and layout

A timber table and dark woven chairs sit against a brick wall with tall black-framed doors behind them. The mix of brick, timber, metal, and plants gives the terrace a clear material palette.

Using the garden

The table is positioned for meals close to the kitchen or living space. The direct connection to the doors keeps the terrace useful for everyday dining and outdoor conversation.

The potted plants can change with the seasons, while the brick, timber, and door lines continue to define the terrace as the garden changes.
