Dining Terrace Retreat
This terrace is a close, intimate outdoor room. The table is set along a planted wall, with the furniture, paving, and greenery working together at a small scale.

A closer look
The design is read through its paths, planting layers, and places to spend time outdoors.
What the space needed
The layout makes a narrow terrace feel purposeful by placing the table along the long edge. The surrounding wall and planting create a sense of enclosure without closing off the seating.
How the planting works
A small tree, clipped shrubs, and leafy plants form several heights behind the table. A potted plant on the tabletop brings the garden detail into the dining area itself.
Materials and layout
The wood table and woven chairs sit on a paved terrace beside a low stone or masonry wall. The warm timber and dark planting provide contrast against the light paving.
Using the garden
The terrace is scaled for meals and quiet conversation. Its direct relationship to the planted wall makes the garden part of the dining experience rather than a backdrop at a distance.
The terrace view will shift with leaf, bloom, and light through the year, and the planting will take on more presence as it settles in.
